Last Saturday saw our final public performance of ‘Moving On’ for this season as we got knocked out of the All England Theatre Festival in the Western Division Quarter Finals of the Central Area. Was a really super day of theatre, we opened the competition with our performance first on in the afternoon. Joanne stepped into the role of Bee to bail us out of a very difficult position – Get well soon Emma! We were followed by Phoenix Youth with the Monkeys Paw and Bookends by Stourbridge Theatre concluded the afternoon.
Off Centre Theatre (who were runners up this year) were first on in the evening with the Neil Simon play Plaza Suite or Act 111 of it anyway. The vision of ‘Roy’ walking along the outside ledge of his hotel room will stay with me for ever. Wordsley ADS were next up, with ‘From five to fire thirty’ and the evening was closed with Highbury Players doing Harold Pinter The Dumb Waiter.
Highbury were worthy winners on the day, it’s the second time I’ve seen them perform this and all I can say is ‘Cor!, Listen to this’ they just get better and better. Many congratulations to Claire and her team.
